Meaningful moments across the circle of life.
Meaningful moments across the circle of life.

Hello, I’m Jo Parsons, your Funeral Celebrant based in Exeter and the Southwest.
My role is to listen, support, and help you create a ceremony that truly reflects your loved one; their story, their personality, and the love they leave behind.
A funeral celebrant creates and leads a personalised ceremony that reflects the life, character, beliefs and values of your loved one. I work closely with family and friends to craft a meaningful tribute and deliver the service on the day with care and respect.
Please reach me at jo.parsons@uksoc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We’ll arrange a meeting in a place where you feel comfortable — either at home, another location of your choice, or via video/telephone if distance or time makes an in-person meeting difficult. I’ll listen to your memories and stories, ask gentle questions, and gather the details needed to create a heartfelt ceremony.
Yes. With your guidance, I will write a personal and accurate tribute that honours your loved one’s life. You can review the wording beforehand, and family or friends are welcome to contribute or speak if they wish.
Yes, you can choose to include poems, music, readings, or prayers that hold meaning for you. These can be read by a family member or friends, or I can read them on their behalf.
Absolutely. Readings, poems, personal tributes, music choices and symbolic gestures are all welcomed and encouraged. I can also support anyone who wants to speak but feels a little nervous.

Yes. The ceremony can be non-religious, lightly spiritual, or include selected prayers or faith-based readings. It’s entirely your choice, and the ceremony is designed around what feels right for your family.
A crematorium service typically lasts around 20–40 minutes depending on the location and schedule. Burial and memorial ceremonies can be more flexible in length.
Yes. A printed or digital keepsake copy can be provided if desired.
Yes. I also create bespoke memorial ceremonies, celebration-of-life events, anniversary services and scattering-of-ashes ceremonies.
Before becoming a Funeral Celebrant, I spent over 20 years as a Primary School Teacher, specialising in Early Years and Special Educational Needs. My teaching career took me across the UK and internationally, giving me a deep appreciation of different cultures and a real empathy for others.

At Jo Parsons Celebrant, we offer a range of funeral and cemetery services to meet the unique needs of each family we serve. From traditional funerals to cremation and memorial services, we are here to help you create a meaningful and personalized tribute.
